Description
Situated in the communes of Berthen and Godewaersvelde, the Mont des Cats offers hikers the rolling landscapes characteristic of the Monts de Flandre, which can be admired from its 164 m altitude. A superb abbey overlooks the Mont des Cats, home since 1826 to a monastery of some thirty Cistercian monks in the Trappist tradition who make a famous cheese of the same name. A stroll through the 20-hectare wooded area will allow you to soak up this typically Flemish atmosphere.
