Description
The nave has five bays and a transept. The elevation is on one level. The windows are pointed-arched, subdivided into two lancets crowned with a three-lobed motif. The nave ends in an apse choir opening onto a low, square-plan sacristy. The cross-shaped church, built of white stone, dates from the 15th century, although it contains earlier elements. The façade and bell tower were rebuilt in 1628. The church was enlarged in 1866, based on plans by architect Maillard. The square choir was replaced by a neo-Gothic choir. Damaged during the 1914-1918 war, Lesdain is practically the only church in the canton of Marcoing to have been simply restored. The church features fine chapels dedicated to Notre-Dame de Lourdes, Notre-Dame des Armées, Saint Anne, Saint Thérèse, Saint Joseph and Saint Roch, as well as a fine wooden high altar featuring a pietà scene, which continues the various stations that run along the church walls.
